Youth Work Week 2016 – Siambr Hywel Visits

Should we tax sugary drinks? Should the voting age be lowered to 16? Should young people be banned from buying energy drinks? These are some of the topics that you could be discussing during an education visit to the National Assembly for Wales.

Mari, Iestyn and Olwen, the Education Team in Cardiff Bay, are happy to welcome school and college groups to our dedicated education suite on business days.Ysgol y Gader

We welcome groups from school councils to ‘A’ Level students – and every kind of group in between!

Our programmes are tailored according to the age and the nature of the groups and will normally comprise a debate in Siambr Hywel, our dedicated youth chamber, an activity and a tour of the Senedd.

On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, we offer Plenary visits comprising a debate in Siambr Hywel and tickets for the group to watch the Plenary meeting of all 60 Assembly Members in the Senedd.

Constituency and Regional Members are invited to meet each group during their visit and this offers pupils the opportunity to speak to Assembly Members and to ask them questions about their work or about issues that concern them in the local area or in Wales generally.

You can also combine your visit to Cardiff Bay with a presentation in your school or college from our Wales-wide team of Education Outreach Officers.

Why not ask your teachers to arrange a visit for your group? The calendar is now open for visits between September 2016 and July 2017. More details of all education visits are available here.
